The presenters will focus on solutions that affect both the client experience, the productivity of the agent and the efficiency of the life company. Some InsurTech companies that have developed solutions across the value chain - beginning with front-end solutions to improve the productivity and expertise of agents. These include cloud-based product illustration, advanced sales concept systems, financial calculators, e-applications and e-signature technology. Solutions that improve the efficiency of policy underwriting and issue include automated underwriting systems, expert requirement systems and underwriter workbenches. Finally, solutions that automate inforce policy management and compliance include anti-money laundering AI systems, in-force illustration systems to satisfy annual statement compliance and claims processing systems. There is a race to gain competitive advantage by getting to a digitally transformed future first.

Description: An increasingly common question in our industry is - what should actuaries be doing and what should IT be doing? This gets at the difference between the self-service model, where actuaries have minimal reliance on ITand the shared-service model, where IT is a partner that helps with goals such as developing capabilities and running production models. The presenters will cover the unique value proposition of actuarial and IT functions and use that context to explore the pros and cons of the two models. They will ask what is going to drive the operating model in the future, considering the implications of trends in governance, technology toolkit and company culture. Description: During the2019 InsureTech Connect conference in Las Vegas, the Society of Actuaries (SOA) and Plug and Play today announced the two organizations are nearing an agreement on professional development offerings and learning opportunities.
